Banksy often chooses to exhibit his works in unusual and historic locations. The Banksy – Street is the Museum exhibition is no exception, taking place in the historic cellar rooms of Palazzo Falletti di Barolo, right in the heart of Turin.

This magnificent palace was expanded in the late 17th century in the Baroque style by the noble Provana di Druent family and later passed to the Falletti di Barolo family.

In the 19th century, it became the home of Marchese Carlo Tancredi and his wife Giulia Colbert di Barolo. The couple turned the Palazzo into one of Turin’s most famous intellectual salons and one of the city’s most important centres of philanthropy. The writer and patriot Silvio Pellico lived and worked here for many years.

After Giulia’s death in 1864, the building was bequeathed to the Opera Pia Barolo foundation, which she had established in her will.

Palazzo Falletti di Barolo is one of the best-preserved noble residences in Turin.

The historic cellar rooms of the Palazzo were once used both as the family’s wine cellars and for charitable activities. Dark, atmospheric and marked by centuries of history, this extraordinary space now hosts the works of Banksy.
